6 Tips for Setting Powerful Intentions to Bring Your Dreams to Life in 2020

When was the last time you let yourself dream about what it is you truly desire for your life? When was the last time you wrote down your greatest visions for your life and really let yourself focus on them and imagine them coming to life?

As adults, it’s so easy for us to get bogged down by everyday life and what is on our to-do list. We often get so caught up with the trials and tribulations of our day to day life that we forget to consider what we actually want and take the time to honor our dreams and highest visions for ourselves.

I believe that intention setting is a powerful tool for bringing your dreams to life. I have watched my own life transform magnificently in just a few months from using these techniques and I believe it can happen for you too!

Over the summer I was working a job that I wasn’t crazy about then after implementing these techniques, I manifested a new job that paid more than any other job I had had before. Not too long after that job came into my life I started feeling drained and exhausted and realized that I needed to make some adjustments to my vision and what I was trying to manifest. And sure enough, I brought to life a whole new career path that I am now embarking upon. Before journaling and using intention setting tools regularly, the thought of a career change had never occurred to me and I would have never thought it to be possible.

I hope these tips help you manifest the magnificent life you so deserve to be living and that they help you open your arms to receive the blessings of the universe that are all around us.

Vision boards are a popular tool for manifesting your desires and are often very effective. However, I am more of a writer and less of a visual person so I like to make vision grids to map out my dreams and desires. I start by taking a big piece of paper and writing my desire in the center then putting a triangle around it. I will even write the exact details of when I want it to happen (for example, taking a trip to Hawaii in 2021).

I then write down any words that come to mind and put them in little bubbles all over the page and connect them to the triangle in the center with a line. I write down words on how I want to feel and what I want to happen surrounding this desire and allow myself to feel all of the positive emotions that come up as I am writing and imagining it. I find my imagination begins to run wild and I can now see the thing I desire very clearly.

This technique is a fun tool to go back to time and time again to free your imagination and really feel what it would be like to have your dreams come to life.

I do this as a daily practice because it is so fun and so powerful. I do this when I really want to focus my attention on my desires. It is helpful because writing in this way forces you to step into the mindset of your future self living your dream. How does your future self feel today? What does their day to day life look like? Where do they live? Who are they surrounded by?

I created a Manifestation Journal just for this practice that you can find in my shop linked below. I use mine all of the time and I have seen major shifts in my life because of it.

There are a lot of great resources out there on how powerful it is to work in conjunction with the moon phases when it comes to manifesting your desires.

I use the full moon for letting go of anything I want to release that is no longer serving me in my life and the new moon for setting intentions for the coming moon cycle.

Try making a monthly ritual for setting intentions. I find looking just a month ahead is easier than only setting intentions at the beginning of the year. I suggest checking out Soulshine Astrology and The Moon Journal on Instagram for information on the moon phases and how working with them can amplify your intention setting rituals.

We all know that action is important, but I find that sometimes I get so caught up in the action steps that I forget to align the energy around why I want to do the action steps in the first place.

Try focusing on how you want to feel for the next year. For me, I would like to feel more at ease and more secure in my daily life. Making that the first step helps me stay in alignment with what I truly want in my life versus getting caught up in achieving tangible results. To paraphrase author Abraham-Hicks, the first manifestation is the emotion of what you want and the rest will fall into place once you achieve that emotional state.

I am a huge advocate for self-care. I have watched my life completely transform after putting solid self-care practices into place and making them a priority in my life.

Choose one to two self-care practices that you can commit to for the new year. It doesn’t have to be a radical shift it can simply mean going to the gym twice a week or adding in five minutes of meditation to your morning routine.

Choose something that resonates with you and will bring more joy into your life. Aligning with the frequency of joy through taking excellent care of yourself will help you attract new opportunities and blessings into your life.

It can be a lot of pressure to make a bunch of goals once a year so I find that I enjoy setting intentions throughout the year instead of just once a year.

I find it’s easier to stay on track when you are consistently checking in with yourself and your goals and aspirations. Having gentle reminders every month or two as to what you are working towards is much easier to me than only reflecting once a year.

It’s easy to feel like we fall short of our goals when we put pressure on ourselves one day a year to start fresh. What if every day were an invitation to start fresh? Take time to reflect or choose a date on your calendar once a month or every two to three months to check in and see how your intentions are going. I also find that my goals change a lot over the course of the year so keeping up with my intentions and allowing myself space to change and reevaluate my goals makes keeping up with resolutions much more manageable.

I hope you are able to utilize these techniques and that they prove to be helpful for you in this new year coming up! Follow me on Instagram @soulspeakbooks and let me know how it’s going for you. I would love to hear from you!
