How fashion bloggers in Houston stay on top of the fashion game

“You get to see what celebrities are wearing before us normal people get to wear it. Like what is it that Channel or Gucci is putting out there and then you just are able to pick up on the trends,” Estrada said.

Estrada takes a few weeks or months worth of content and gets it ready in one day so she has all of her posts already planned out. She does have a full time job and explained that dedication to her blogging and support from her followers is how she stays so consistent.

“It is a one man type of show right now, for me it’s easy to write the blog post and take the photos because I enjoy it so much; and when I get words of encouragement that is what makes me want to keep going,” Estrada said.

For Estrada, staying relatable and being real with her followers is what makes her different from other bloggers.

“I don’t try to be perfect. There has been many times where I go a week without posting because I may be going through something in life. If I want to when I come back i’ll explain why,” Estrada said.

Being able to connect with people is why she has a great amount of followers.

“A lot of bloggers have such a perfect life on Instagram and its hard to relate too. I think it’s totally normal to show your follows it is okay I go through this; I am human, you are human, we are the same person,” Estrada said.

“For me it’s all about being disciplined and setting aside a specific time each day/week to do something,” Walker said.

As a teacher finding time to blog and take pictures can be difficult especially all on your own. Being a fashion blogger means putting time and effort which most people do not realize.

“You have to do everything yourself from web design, web site monitoring, content creation, photography, copy writer, marketer, SEO strategist, IT expert, outreach specialist to find sponsored campaigns etc,” Walker said.

Staying on trend can be tricky and for Walker she is always on social media looking at what others are buying and wearing to make sure she is up to date.

“I am always and I mean always shopping and watching what others are posting about. I try to keep people engaged by posting good relevant content that they’ll appreciate and find helpful,” Walker said.

Rojas attends different fashion events in Houston and in New York to know what is currently in style.

“Trends are always changing and just by following my favorite brands, going to New York Fasion Week and seeing what is trending on social media,” Rojas said.

Rojas dedicates a specific time to blog and time for just family.

“At home I normally do not post a lot and you will not see me active from 6–7:30 p.m. because we put our phones away and just enjoy us as a family,” Rojas said.

Blogging becomes a full time job and there is no pause button.

“There is so much behind the scenes work that is very time consuming and stressful. Plus there is really no breaks. You are constantly on and even when you go on a vacation you somewhat are not because that could be better content for your readers,” Rojas said.

Fashion bloggers have to put their whole life out on display while posting intriging content and staying engaged with their followers.

“There is only one Margret Rojas, just like there is only one of any other person out there,” Rojas said. “Each person has a special something and I am so grateful for anyone that follows me for being me and sharing my life.”
