This story is a survey of the films directed by Ridley Scott. Regular readers will know that I like to consider the views of critics and fans. Critics give me a view of the artistry of a film. Fans are sometimes a better guide to entertainment value. I combine the two perspectives to formulate the definitive ranking of Ridley Scott’s films.

This table shows the Metacritic scores and ranking.

The career average scores between the two meta-sites are similar, but there is much less variation in the Metacritic scores. The two tables are broadly in agreement, but there are some significant differences. The biggest differences relate to Kingdom of Heaven (RT: 20, MC: 12) and Matchstick Men (RT: 6, MC: 14). The following table combines RT and MC to derive the combined critics’ ranking.
