Music You Should Pay Attention To

With technology as it is, there is something a little bit less special about music than there used to be. It’s now possible, thanks in part to artificial intelligence, to make a fully rendered version of a classic song using another artist’s vocals.

No idea’s original. There is nothing new under the sun, as Nasir Jones once said. It’s not about what you but how it’s done. Nevertheless, some people are still putting effort in to making cool and crisp, quality music. Here are a few notables:

“Lujon,” the Henry Mancini classic heard in the classic Coen Brothers movie The Big Lebowski, also makes an appearance. The sound is a bit different, in a way that’s hard to describe. Remastered? Better layered. I’m not really quite sure.

Yelawolf and Caskey — Daytona: As far as I know, this song is the only hip-hop to directly reference Covid-19. “Mask on but it’s no Corona.” The layering, rhythm and keys are all on point and Caskey and Yelawolf perfectly meld the moodiness of “mumble” rap with rhyming that could compete with the like of Busta Rhymes.
