RitDev Node Express Week1

Hi Guys for those who missed the first week for the tutorial series don’t feel left out, I will give you a brief outline of what happened in our first week. If you did follow and read the last blog post on how to become a web developer in 20 minutes then you will have a vivid picture on what I will share in the post, if not i suggest you read the previous post.

RitDev (Real Innovative Development) had its first week of our Node Express Series where we briefly introduced what was Nodejs and introduced web application framework. Nodejs is basically Javascript executed in a run time known as Chrome V8 Engine, which is very lightweight and fairly easy to learn and use. With Nodejs it uses Javascript as it’s main language. Nodejs is not a language it is an opensource server framework. When you install nodejs today it will also install a package manager known npm (node package manager ) which is used to download and install nodejs modules in your project. If you a developer you will be probably be aware of what package managers do and how to use them, if a php developer you will be familiar with a package manager known as composer and npm behaves the same as composer. After that brief description of npm then i will go on to explain what is express, and express is simply web application framework(modules or packages) used for building web applications and web apis. Now we have principle basic understanding of what is Nodejs and Express . We can share web application framework.

Web Application Framework

Web application are basically are application running from a dedicated powerful (sometimes not so powerful) computer know as a server which is connected to the web(internet) in order to access this application you need a web client (browser) to access the application to understand this I will use face book as an example. Facebook sits on a server (distributed servers) and we use our phones and laptop browsers to access Facebook.

After covering the basic the class then had to select a project there where going to work during the duration on the node express series. The project they proposed was on an online store for selling shoes, if you wish to be part of this experience join us this week as we start covering the core principles in and as we work on our project .
