ROLLING VENGEANCE Rumbles Its Way onto Blu

From Lino Lorber Studio Classics comes this 1987 Canuxploitation flick about vengeance and a killer eight-ton truck

What does a man do when the drunken asshole sons of a powerful redneck in town recklessly take the lives of his mother, sister, and brother, rape his girlfriend, then kill his father in cold blood? He can’t turn to authorities and he’s got no support system left, so where does he turn?

The answer should be obvious by now… he builds a deadly monster truck to mow these rich, drunk bastards down.

The plot is pretty simple. As noted above, it’s basically a standard revenge film. However, the manner in which our hero gets his revenge is not so standard or simple. He uses his skills as a trucker to create the ultimate machine in the battle against drunk redneck assholes… this beauty:

Far from perfect, the film struggles with its tone and pacing, but there are moments of batshit brilliance that make the film something worth picking up. There are some fun action scenes and equally fun set pieces, but the lack of an adequate budget fir what they are trying to do and the unfortunately weak script surely shine through. However, low budgets and weak scripts are often staples of this certain type of exploitation film.

It’s hard to really argue that this film is filled with positive elements or strong filmmaking, but fans of exploitation action films and/or Canuxploitation completists can watch a much better looking version of this film than Ed caught on VHS. Kino Lorber’s brand new Blu-ray includes:

The scan of the film looks great, albeit lower budget films can only look so good. A cleaner scan can demonstrate some of the issues with the film’s appearance better than poor scans, as well. This, this scan is a blessing and a curse. With cleaner picture and sound, however, you definitely get the best possible way to watch this film to date.

In short, this film won’t work for many folks, but it’s a nice addition to the collection of genre nerds and completists. Kino does a greater job with this release, so if this type of film sounds up your alley, check it out.
