Why the Wealthy Kids Are Always Shitty Songwriters

The Intuition and Passion of Songwriting — Or Lack Thereof

Give me a poverty-stricken, mal-nourished, nobody-of-a-songwriter, over a rich kid wannabe rockstar, who never had to figure out how or where they were gonna eat next — any day of the week.

Maybe some of you will disagree with me.

As with everything else, money has everything to do with it. That aforementioned question is a privilege afforded to those who don’t have to think about it.

If that is the case, I’ve got one piece of advice for you:

stay away from rock n’ roll.

Struggle and oppression, which in turn breeds passion and determination, have always been the two key ingredients to creating serious and meaningful art.

Case in point: Black Americans who were slaves, ex-slaves, and descendants of slaves, created Blues and Jazz; a huge part of the American heritage.

Another case in point: That’s why bands like Bon-Jovi and The Rolling Stones are shit now.

Music is one of those mysterious love languages that soothes the soul, but its methods are tempestuous. Music can be appreciated by all — that is part of its beauty.
