Your Fears Are Working Against You

Scared to put yourself out there? Do it anyway!

People often make the mistake of overanalyzing their fears. Especially when they’re trying something new. Our minds will work against our progress. They are designed to protect us. Unfortunately, it cannot differentiate a physical attack from writing a novel, producing content consistently, speaking in front of a crowd and other stuff that you’ve been wanting to try and do that involves a scary feeling for most of us.

Read the article above in order to understand what I just said. I’m aware my thoughts get scattered from here to there but this is the main point of what I just said. HAHA!

Anyway, back to what I was saying. Think about that project, habit, thing you want to start. Do you want to publish a book? Do you want to be an influencer? A better public speaker? A Tiktok personality? It could be anything! Thoughts like “What will people think?” or “What if I don’t succeed?” or “What if they laugh at me?” will sometimes cross your mind.

That’s okay. That’s just your mind trying to protect you.

Yes, we all want to stay in our comfort zones because its safe and warm and fuzzy. Is that what you want though? Don’t you want to find out what else you’re capable of?

People who succeed in their fields did not get there by staying safe and warm in their little comfort zone. They put themselves out there to test the waters. And they’ve all encountered criticism and negative comments/feedback.

That didn’t stop them though because today, we know of people like Steve Martin, J.K. Rowling, Steve Jobs, Jim Carrey, etc. Hell, they don’t have to be famous. It could be that local business owner who’s been running their restaurant/cafe for 10, 15, 20 years now. It could be that friend you have who consistently posts their work on social media and has been making a living off of it.

All of these people went through obstacles to get to where they are.

Don’t wait for your mind to tell you, “I’m not scared anymore”. That could take years and it’s not even a guarantee that you’ll let go of your fears in this lifetime. You don’t have to do anything grand. Just dip your toes in at first. Sooner or later, you’ll find yourself working alongside your fears and you’ll find out that it’s okay to be scared. What’s not okay is not doing anything when you know that you want to do more.

I hope this helps.

I wish you courage to take that first step. More power to you and your endeavors!

See you again on the next!
